Today, I'd had it with my mom's addiction to weed, so I told her to choose between me or the weed. I'm currently looking on Craigslist for an apartment. FML

Yes, like letting her adult children live at home rent-free while they hassle her about her fun habits.

While it is true that you aren't addicted to the actual chemical THC in marijuana, you can become "addicted" to the effects it creates. Here's a really crappy example: you don't become addicted to being held at gunpoint by muggers, but you can get addicted to the adrenaline rush, so to get your fix, you'll walk around seedy parts of town with money hanging out your ass to get that rush again.

If you were my child and you thought that I was addicted to weed, I'd disown you for being a ******* idiot. Your mom isn't a ******* junkie, give her some credit.

It's scientifically impossible to be physically addicted to weed; however, it is possible that she is psychologically addicted to it. Long and short, it's all in her head. Why would u want her to stop? I can't see a reason

Two words..."The Union". It's a documentary that 95% of the commenters here need to watch before making anymore false statements about marijuana. The other 5% already know what I'm talking about ;)

I call shenanigans, cannabis is less addictive than chocolate. She probably just likes getting high.

The drugs always win. If you don't believe me, look at all the people on this very page who think a little sticky-icky is more important than family. As a side-note: I hate reading drug discussions online because it always reminds me that a dismayingly high number of people don't know the word "addictive" exists and try to conjugate "addict" into "addictING" instead (gerund, not adjective). When the topic is marijuana, it also reminds me how many don't understand the difference between chemical and psychological addiction, or just refuse to acknowledge the existence of the latter because nothing they like can have any drawbacks or flaws, at all, ever.

I'd have done the same, lmao! Go mum!!!

The only reason there are so many YDIs is that there are a lot of assholes on the internet who refuse to believe that someone can become addicted to pot. You can become addicted to anything you enjoy, and it's not a good thing. I'm sorry, OP - best wishes.

People are really, really easily threatened when you seemingly "put down" anything they like. Most people are just not comfortable with the idea that anything they dislike has good points or that anything they like has bad points. Try telling the average person, "(evil person X, Y, or Z) was bad, but they did love their family a lot," and watch them instantly jump down your throat. Because they literally cannot conceive of a moderate viewpoint, they will assume any expression of positivity reflects a 100% positive opinion.

Weed is NOT a dangerous drug. You ever thought that maybe you're moving out because she wants her own life, and since you're seemingly of age, you should have yours too? And you'll probably be in college soon and dose yourself with the FAR more dangerous and addictive drug of alcohol?
