Major YDI. agreed with all that you deserve far worse. I hope it was a damn expensive phone. And I hope they run up your bill like crazy and you get stuck paying it. then I hope you have to get a very shitty job to pay for it. because I have served people before and it is NOT FUN nor worth the tiny amount you get paid. GROW UP OP.

This *would* be an FML if you were the server who got caught out by your thievery - they'd have to cover it. You deserve criminal prosecution with all the consequences - possible jail time, your employer finds out, your *MOM* finds out, etc.

I agree YDI, its just disrespectful, and wrong. but just for laughs (not saying anyone should be dumb enough to do it) just tell the owner you left your wallet, purse , whatever at home, and you left your phone there as collateral or something. i doubt they will believe it and you will have to pay for it, but its better than being arrested.

You ******* asshole. You do realize, right, that the waiter/waitress who served you will now have to pay your bill? And you also realized, correct, that most waiters/waitresses get paid less than half the state minimum wage? Now, put your little mind to the task and try to calculate how ******* long it would take for someone earning $2 an hour (plus tips) to pay off the steak dinner you refused to pay for...plus paying off their own necessary living expenses. If the restaurant owner is any sort of smart, he'll get your name out of the phone, track you down, and have you arrested for theft. YDI, jackass. Burn in Hell.

By saying "owner", this leads me to believe that you dine and ditched at a locally owned and operated restaurant instead of a massive conglomerate. Although dining and ditching is never right, doing it at a mom and pop restaurant is straight-up evil.

That was my first thought too. But since after reading this thread of comments I found out that most places make a waiter/waitress pay for the dine-and-dashes, that makes it straight-up evil no matter where he did it.
