wow...@the sheer number of people that literally want to stop what they're doing and beat the cheap out if you... OP have you read these comments? from what it looks like if you get caught doing this in the wrong restauraunt another customer is going to chase you down and beat whatever you ate out of you...and the other customers won't be calling the police

I wouldn't do that. I'd like to, but realistically, I'd probably just make sure someone called the police. Also, assuming the restaurant was one where the waiter/waitress had to pay for it, I would ask how much the dine-and-dasher's meal would have cost - and leave a tip big enough to cover the stolen food.

maybe Im looking at it the wrong way but i see that as stealing. Eating the food and not paying for it. I dont know what OP thinks of it as, (cheap skateness, being a scumbag, etc) but i consider it stealing. Looks like the other commenters agree...
