Today, I discovered that my mother uses my eyebrow tweezers to pull ticks off the dog. She also hasn't figured out that just dipping the tweezers in alcohol doesn't automatically sterilize them. Especially if there is icky dog hair still stuck on. FML

Actually, alcohol will kill most bacteria, so you're wrong. But I agree that it's sick that she's using them in the first place, and going through the trouble of sterilizing them without removing the hair. There's tweezers at Walgreen's for a dollar and they work just fine on my eyebrows... if you're not a caveman, it shouldn't be a big deal to get a new one (at least she wasn't using your hairbrush on the dog and GIVING you ticks).

tweezers only cost about $1. buy your own.

How freaking tiny are ticks in your neck of the woods? It's not like they're hiding on the tweezers. It's already been pointed out that you obviously know nothing about alcohol, because it kills 99% of everything. And if you're still worried about it... You know, it's kind of common knowledge that you're supposed to clean your tweezers every now and then. Then after a good sanitation, teach your mom how to remove ticks. (Hint: Not with tweezers.)

if alcohol doesnt sterilize them. what does?

wow. u r so gifted!!!! I wish I had ur brains....I've ALWAY wondered whyi didn't get a photographic memory.... it's so unfair... the worlds unfair...

astro_plastic: I've wondered that very thing myself. I've also wondered how she always seems to one-up her brilliance whenever someone points out a flaw in her comment, such as the above comment. I definitely don't mean to be rude. I'm just pointing out that circumstances when she usually brings up her intelligence are curiously coincidental.

Well I have an F-ing IQ of 965 and I was teaching nuclear physics in university at the age Snickerdoodles learned to read. And you better believe me otherwise you are just complete idiots for not believing a complete stranger bragging about very unusual skills he claims he has on FML. By the way, Snickedoodles, everyone has an eidetic and a photographic memory. Some people just have better eidetic/photographic memories than others. What you said really just means "I have a normal brain". I'm surprised you didn't realize that.

You guys dont really understand, with good speaking/typing skills (ie grammar and spelling) you can convince everyone on FML.com that you're a ******* child prodigy.... I constantly use spell check and that bitch is always correcting my grammar but that dont mean im not smart, i ranked in the top 27th in the U.S/Guam and other NA countries (but i know i wasnt in the top 3) in math..... whoop de doo.... and i can prove that i was #1 in the state..... But, all the info that ive seen that shes provided can be found using google in like a minute and a half..... and snick, dont correct my spelling/grammar..... if you are as smart as you say you are go out and find the cure for whatever it is you have..... cause its annoying as hell.....

Astro is awesome. Just throwing that out there. :D

Not to be rude-because that nullifies any proceeding rudeness-but I think your home remedy book might be slightly outdated, snickerdoodles. While burning ticks was the previously popular method for removing a tick, it is actually considered to be the worst by health care professionals. The application of heat to the body (aka whatever is visible on the skin) of the tick causes it to burrow deeper into the skin, which means that when you go to remove it, it is far more easy for the body to detach from the head and for the head to remain inside the skin. This can lead to serious health issues considering the number of diseases that can be spread by ticks. The current method is to suffocate the tick using Vaseline, oil, or something similar, and applying it to the body of the tick. After a few moments the tick is dead and is much more easily and safely removed. I'm no child prodigy, but I learned this at wilderness first aid training a few months ago.

Oh, well ive burned off plenty of ticks in my life and soo far none of them has burrowed deeper...... when i poke them with a hot match they have always popped out by themselves...... so i figure them pulling out is better than the risk of you pulling their body loose with the head still in your skin.....

that actually almost made me throw up... FYL
