Today, I donated blood for the first time. It wasn't until I passed out on the ice during hockey practice that I remembered the nurse warning me not to do any type of exercise. FML

What did you expect? When you donate blood your body needs time to replenish it and you will be dehydrated until then.

At least you did something good first. Way to go OP. On a side note Hockey is life.

You're an idiot, OP. This is definitly a YDI.

Oh man, sorry OP. I've had more blood draws than I count count, so I can sympathize that whole, forgetting by to do physical activity thing.

what can ya say you're just living the gem life

How in the world is OP living a gem life?

So you were hardcore, but not quite hardcore enough. Keep it up, someday you'll be able to donate blood, play hockey, drop half a liter of vodka and fight a bear to relax afterwards.

YOLO my man YOLO. (You oughta look out)

I lost a brain cell while reading this.

Thanks for donating, OP. Especially right now that an alert has been issued due to the severe weather on the east coast

Sorry that happened to you, and I hope you're okay and this wasn't a deterrent. In 56 days, when you become eligible again, make sure you schedule your donation on a day when you don't have practice.

Hi everyone OP here. I know I deserved it. I didn't realize how serious they were about not doing ANY exercise. After one rep of the first drill I was out. So I learned my lesson. Happy I donated and would do it again, but would probably stay off the ice next time :)

First time I donated blood I tried to go lift weights about 5 hours afterwards (I though 5 hours was fine), and somebody had to help me out of the gym cause I didn't make it up the stairs..

I swam in a swim meet a day after donating blood. Stopping in the middle of a 500 was extremely embarrassing. Even after you recover your plasma the next day, the red blood cells takes a few weeks to return to normal numbers.

I understand your urge to play outweighed the need to recover... But you guys need to operate healthy! Lol

on a completely different note I assume you ride dirtbikes because "ktm" in your username. us dirt bike riders are tougher than that bro. jk I hope you're ok
