Today, I expressed my feelings to a guy I've liked for a long time. He basically turned me down because I have the same name as his mom, and dating me would be too weird. FML

He has a point..imagine him calling your name out in bed.

I don't see why it would be weird, unless he calls his mom by her first name.

I'm not saying you deserve it, but he has a valid point

Yeah I get that. I wouldn't either, same with people with my sisters name. Thankfully you don't get many Karen's or Daisy's my age.

I can understand where he's coming from. Names can be a game changer, ex's names, family members names and disliked people's names can all prevent a relationship. I'm not saying it's right or wrong I'm just saying It happens.

My husband has the same name as my father. A little weird at first, and I considered not dating him because of it. Would have been the biggest mistake of my life. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. Don't let a name stop you - you'll get over it. I don't call my father by his name anyway, and I don't use my husband's name in bed (I gave him a nickname for that *wink*). :-)

That's what nick names are for...I understand, why it can be strange, I also think it would be weird dating a boy with my fathers name. But he could have given you a nice nick name, try to ignore the similarity and soon the weirdness would have worn of, because he'd be used to it...

My uncle married someone with the same name as his sister (my mother) and so the two shared the same name when they married. They also share the same birthday which is pretty freaky.
