Today, I faced my social anxiety and went to a chip shop on my own. I tried to have a conversation with the owner, but his thick accent made it difficult. He now knows where I live, what college I go to, and I'm pretty sure I agreed to go to India with him. FML

LoL i wish i had a friend like u! Im the same way

My best friend was adopted by an "Indian Couple" he drives Mercedes & Audi to school everyday.. "Indians are by far the most welcoming countrymen I've ever come across.. They seem to have a weird & thick accent but they are genuine welcomers

You've hit a jackpot in this first go.. Congrats !

Mmmmm chips.... Could you imagine like a stand that made fresh chips like fine sliced deep fried potatoes and then coated all sorts of flavours... (For the record even Canadians sometimes call them chips. As a kid we would sing a song... "Fish and chips and vinegar, vinegar, fish and chips and vinegar, pepper, pepper, pepper salt!"... Lol I still sing it when I make fish ( >.< )

Social anxiety sucks. It's good that you decided to overcome it.

Great to hear you're really trying OP. Ive been there before. It gets easier the more you do it and the more new people you meet. For people that don't know, chip shops are very popular, very affordable fast food places. Most things are deep friend. They sell chips (fries in the uk) on their own, deep fried fish and chips, deep fried burgers, sausages, black and white puddings, chicken. Basically anything you can batter and deep fry, on their own (single) or as a supper (with fries). Many will also do extras like stone baked pizzas, pastas, garlic bread, kebabs. It's all low quality food, usually microwaved or kept under a heat lamp. Unless you're drunk (most are open in the evening/night), really hungry and in rush, or a kid, many people dont often enjoy eating there. I just accepted a weekend job there and i'm coming in at 4am smelling of grease. boke.
