Don't u have a password to shut off the alarm?...
Who sets the motion sensor on when they are at home? There is a reason alarms come with two different settings. Home and away. If they set the sensor on id trip it. Maybe they will learn the difference then.
umm hello, if your parents set it properly, the motion sensor shouldn't be on at night
Then how do they normally turn it off? I assume the control is near the door or somewhere accessible from the living room. Even if you didn't know the code, there has to be some time between it going off and you being able to get one of your parents to turn it off. Overall, I'm not impressed by your reasoning. I would have just gotten up regardless.
You have to know the code to your alarm
"MOTION sensor" would indicate that the alarm will go off if it senses MOVEMENT, not sound. Why didn't you just yell after your parents instead of sitting there silently for 2 hours? If you don't know the alarm code (which is possible) your parents do, and have a moment between the alarm detecting them and then going off, which would have saved you the pain of waiting unnecessarily in the dark ;) That's what would have happened in the morning anyway, someone should've turn it off at some point, so it's just absolutely unuseful to stay and wait ^^ I have the same type of alarm in my house, so that's what I would've done. I'm assuming OP wrote the FML in a funny way rather than the accurate version of what happened. Or at least I hope he did, otherwise, YDI for not being really smart on that one ...
Sucks to be you
Almost sounds planned like they meant to leave you there.
Just get up and go? Don't see the problem here, their fault for setting the alarm. Most motion sensors would go off with you just turning over anyway.
My houses alarm gives us a few minutes to disarm it with the password before notifying the police. I'd get up, let it scare the shit out of your parents and then shut it off before the police get notified.

pff, their fault, would have gotten up anyway.
I wouldn't hold it in if I were you, it's just a siren, not a cage of lions.
