Today, I went to my girlfriend's house to break up with her. It was a hard decision and both of us became quite emotionally overwhelmed at the time. We began to hug as a final goodbye, then her mum burst in the room and yelled, "HE FINALLY PROPOSED!" FML

First, break off the engagement and run far, far away. Hopefully the ring wasn't *too* expensive. Second, please, before you get into another relationship, get some therapy and learn how to stand up for yourself better. Yes, I know that's a fancy, educated version of saying "Grow a pair, and get someone to help you" but it's true.

Do not talk to her. Go to the police and bring evidence. File a restraining order. They will tell her to not go near you, call you or try and contact you. IF she does she will be arrested. Do not let yourself be abused by anyone.
