I'm wondering if his dad "owed" him $400 in the sense that his dad's been paying his rent for years now, and finally cut him off. It never says the OP lent any money to his dad, or that he needed his money back, just that his dad "owed" it to him.
Did anyone actually READ the fml? OP says:"today I finally told my dad he owes me...." In other words OP waited until the last minute to get money that was owed to him from god knows how long ago. Also he TOLD his father he owes him money. He didn't ask his father for the money owed. This tells me (and perhaps I'm reading a bit too much into things but meh!) that OP very well could have been an asshole about it and bent his dad's nose out of shape resulting in the $70 (most likely all he had at the time) and the snarky suggestion to get a better job. YDI OP. If I'm correct in interpreting your fml he didn't recently borrow the money so you were using him as an ATM when you blew your rent money.
when i read the "finally" bit, my first thought was, "op, why didn't you tell him he'd be owing you when he 'borrowed' it?" i had a friend who would do stuff along those lines. once i was really down and out so she bought my entire family like $500 worth of groceries and non perishable foods to keep us lasting for a while. I was so grateful i cried and repeatedly told her that she didn't have to do this. she said and i quote "don't worry about it, thats what friends are for." a month later she took me out for a coffee and said "don't worry, i got the coffee today, i'll just add it to what you already owe me" meaning the groceries i thought was an amazing gift. i did pay her back because i was so embarrassed and realize that it was a lot of money, but i kind of feel like OP did something along those lines to his father.
Trolldad strikes again!
first of all, never lend money to family or friends. if u can't afford to give them the money, u can't afford to lend them the money because lending money is a good way to make that person disappear. second of all, if that money was supposed to go to rent.. she lent out money she couldn't afford to lend out!! third of all, that's rent money for all the years he fed and clothed her.
dont lend money to your parents it never ends well.
#26, If there's one type of person on this site that pisses me off the most, that person would most certainly be you. You were NOT being sarcastic, you were NOT just kidding, all you're being is a ******* troll. If all you can think of to say is something that is completely ******* stupid, and makes zero damn sense whatsoever, then you're one of the most sorry pathetic losers on this planet. it's not going to make anyone laugh, it's not impressing anyone, and you're just a worthless troll. Grow the **** up.
