You got $4,000, some on-the-job-training and a good experience that you'll put on your resume' to get better paying jobs down the road. Your cousin is either lying about getting $8K or he was embezzling. He was working 16-20 hrs a day, 7 days a week, rain or shine, in freezing to sweltering temps. He had very little privacy. His diet ALL summer was ALL carnival food. Only an ignorant twit would only compare the gross salaries. It's hard to believe you have any research experience.
What do you expect? Interns get paid very little for the contacts and work experience they get.
the carnie was probly selling crack, too.
Key Word: INTERNSHIP...a state of "employment" in which the "employee" generally gets paid no salary and only has the promise of experience and contacts for the future. Quit whining about how your cousin who's working an actual salaried job earned more than you.
Does working for Cedar Point count as being a carnie? I'm just wondering, because I was their slave last summer and made 9000.
I have done that at a carnival. Opening your own stall or working at one does pay very well. Renting a space, stall all other needed accessories including food shouldn't cost more than 2k. The payout is near 10k+. I am saying this from experience.
Welcome to science.

So what? A carnie is never going to go anywhere, you've got experience that will get you a better job and you'll end up with more in the end than a carnie ever could.
be thankful that you even got paid for an internship!
