Today, I finished my SAT and was feeling pretty good about it. I decided to turn on my phone, since it was on silent. As the guy was collecting our tests, my phone vibrated a little. My score was cancelled. It was a text from my mom reminding me to turn off my phone. FML

Why would you ever, ever turn your phone on when still in the room? You deserve that twice.

you deserve that sooo much...they repeat over and over again DO NOT TURN YOUR PHONE ON UNTIL YOU LEAVE THE BUILDING, is it that hard to be away from your cell phone for two seconds in order to take one of the most important tests of your academic life??

Epic fail. So sad. When I took the SAT on May 2nd, they actually took it from me and put it in a Ziploc bag in the front of the room. That's what they're doing nowadays. I give you an infinity out of 10 on the Fail Scale. But yeah the irony is pretty messed up. One question: If your phone should have been turned off, how would your mom know if you saw her message or not? I call fail on the test taker and the parent of the test taker for texting her child DURING the SAT.

#128, a score of 1500 is impressive. 1700 is even better. I think you need to change your "passing score" to something a little lower. I this person is this dumb then it would have been a miracle if she got even a 1000.

That is your own stupidety! I dont feel bad for you at all. One of the most important rules when taking the SAT is that your phone be off. When I went to take it the proctors walked up and down the halls yelling that if we had a cell phone we needed to take it back to our cars immediatly or have it completely turned off. You should have known better.

Was it in your pocket? If so, them cancelling out your score was ILLEGAL and you should file a complain immediately.

THE. PHONE. GOES. OFF! what part of that do you not understand. turn it on when you've left the building. seriously...what could possibly happen thats more important than that test. *sighs* im glad i dont have one of those things.

Okay first of all, vibrate is NOT silent! 2nd of all, it is your fault for turning it on!!! That's a nooooooo

#204: "#128, a score of 1500 is impressive. 1700 is even better." Not unless you're using the old scale (and I know you aren't, because you mentioned a 1700 right after). A 1500 is average (mean score from 2006: 1518 from 2007: 1511[new scale]). Old scale, a 1500 was impressive, but an old-scale 1500 is about equal to 2250 on the new scale.

From the SAT website: "Cell phone use is prohibited; students are strongly encouraged not to bring cell phones to the test center. If your phone makes noise, or you are seen using it at any time (including breaks), you may be dismissed immediately , your scores may be canceled, and the device may be confiscated." They have the legal right to cancel your scores, and you can't sue them or boo-hoo about it, because YDI. Also, wow, if you're reading this far down the page, FYL.

You SOOOOO deserved this. Follow the rules when you retake, or at least listen whey they say WAIT UNTIL OUTSIDE to turn on the cell phones. What were you thinking seriously!? #21, i took the MCAT's 6 years ago and they didn't have that rule (they do now for the MCAT and the USMLE) so when so dummy's cell phone started ringing during the essay and they were too embarrased to turn it off, we all had to live with it.
