Today, I finished the first month of a diet and exercise program designed to help me lose weight. To keep myself motivated, I have avoided the scale the entire time. I weighed myself today. I've gained 6 pounds. FML

Muscle weighs more than fat. If you are excersizing and building muscle mass. That's why

Instead of weighing yourself, use a tape measure and measure yourself. If you have gained muscle, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good luck!

Tis a tricky situation you're in, you've gotta weigh yourself enough to keep track but not obsess over it. Yes FYL, but like others have said it could be muscle mass which burns even more fat. :D

muscle is heavier than fat don't weight yourself measure yourself the inches is the true way of finding out

Are you doing the seafood diet?

Fyl. You gained weight. No matter that muscle weighs more than fat, you must have cheated. You will not make more muscle weight than you lose in fat unless you aren't losing the fat. Your exercise is great but your diet isn't working.

For those asking how you gain weight on a diet. A diet is what you eat to sustain yourself. It isn't just a weight loss plan. As for gaining six pounds. How much cardio did you do and what were you eatin and how much? Just cause you changed your diet doesnt mean you'll lose weight if youre consuming the same amount of fats and carbs.

OP, you are getting alot of people who think they know what they are talking about spewing garbage they have heard on tv. I am a fitness instructor in the Army. If you are serious about getting in shape you need to talk to a physician and a personal trainer to come up with a diet and exercise plan that works and is safe for you. Follow the guidelines they set for you, and in a few short weeks you will see improvement.

Not necessarily. Diet and exercise doesn't work for everyone. Believe me I've tried and my fiancé is a personal trainer and has seen it first hand.

Which is why you also involve a physician. Sometimes there can be health reasons causing weight gain. A physician can help to diagnose such problems.

I've had full blood work ups done and everything by doctors and they can't find anything medically wrong with me for why I can only lose a certain amount of weight. It's just my genetics and that's something you can't do anything about.

Muscle is denser than day abd weighs more thats why people say you have to gain to lose havent you ever watched the biggest loser
