I wouldn't worry. You were only following policy, he'll understand, surely. Or you could hide what you've done? Lol
Omg,...sorrrry hope nothing bad happened
"no I have not sir but I found two of your credit card" :D
Good job, OP, for following store policy! Although I do think it's a dumb policy, I realize that you didn't make it and *not following it* could cause you serious trouble at work. Such as being fired, or at least written up. Even if you *knew* it was your boss' card, it's best to follow policy.
Maybe this will show your boss how stupid the policy is and he'll change it! I read a story about a daycare worker who saved her class of kids by putting out the small oven fire in the kitchen and getting the kids to safety. She was fired for violating policy by leaving the classroom-
-to put the fire out in the kitchen. Yes, totally stupid, but employers can f#*% you on dumb things like that. My question is: once you've destroyed a card, how does the owner of the card know what happened to their card? I'm assuming you're not writing down their names to tell them when they call
about it? I wouldn't mind my card being cut up (better safe than sorry & all that) but it WOULD bother me to lose my card and then never know what happened to it. Nevermind, I suppose I'd cancel it as soon as I realized it was missing and it wouldn't matter anyway. Sorry for the broken posts!
your line; nope. (toss in the trash can) wheres the last place you had it?
Your company policy should be to cut them after three days if the owner hasn't come for it.
Policy or not you should of looked at the name on the card and known it was your boss' card. and I would talk to him about changing the policy to 3 days as someone else suggested
It's his fault for losing the card.

Didn't you recognize your bosses name on the card...?
The name on the card should have given it away that it was your bosses card. If the name was the same as an employee then you should ask if it's theirs or not before playing Edward Scissorhands.
