Confront her, you've got a right to privacy.
Or she could say something like "I wish my mom would trust me more." Not necessarily after finding out that her mom reads her diary, but maybe after something different (like she wanted to go to a friend's house but her mom said no, or something). Implying that by reading her diary, makes her feel like she's not trustworthy. Maybe her mom will stop then.
OP, maybe it's time for you to invest in one of those diaries that screams every time it's opened improperly.
I could just imagine her reading it like a novel before going to sleep lol.
