So you still get to be part of each other's lives. Maybe the child will bring you back together or at least give you two something positive to focus on and a reason to get along even if you don't get back together.
If they're filing for a divorce, suddenly having a baby isn't going to fix the problems that obviously exist and are bad enough they want a divorce. The chances would be VERY high that they would end up filing for a divorce again in short order. And if they don't, the kid would grow up with parents that don't love each other, don't like each other, and possibly hate each other. Or have to go through the breakdown of the family prior to the second filing. Go through a custody battle that will end up with the parents fighting over the kid, not out of any genuine desire to parent, but to "one up" the other. Babies don't fix marriages, and amicable divorces are a rare thing. Better for the kid to never have the non-custodial parent than deal with all the long lasting issues that can arise from going through a divorce at a young age with both parents grooming them to hate the other and giving the child a horrific idea how romantic relationships should go.
Wow...a lot of assuming going on. There is no indication that contraception wasn't used, so I think we can stop the bashing and giving the OP crap about being irresponsible. We also do not know the reason they are getting a divorce, but I seriously doubt a baby will change things for the better. I don't get the old "for old time's sake...break up sex" thing, but not my circus. OP...I hope things work out for you and you make the best decision for you.
Put the baby up for adoption if all else fails
Well, that sucks. Hope your area allows abortions.

I don't think babies are the magical cure to a marriage :P
People seem to think that divorce is pretty frivolous if something like a baby is a 'sign they should stay together'. If people aren't required to get married for a child, they don't have to stay together for one. Maybe the reason for the divorce were completely justified. Human biological function doesn't override everything else.
