Today, I found out it's easier to get hired as a teacher than as a part-time cashier. FML

Our education system continues to prove that optimism for our future is devastatingly naïve. I'm sad now.

Cashiers get paid more and get more respect. Yes, our kids may be getting dumber and dumber, but at least we can count on getting the correct change back ... or can we? How would we know?

I blame Trump. This is all his fault because this is his America

I'm a teacher and I can attest to that being completely untrue, depending on where you are from. Do you have a teaching degree? Have you passed a full background check? Did you go through an interview process? Of course if you're talking private school all bets are off. They aren't required to have standards. Despite all the pithy comments all of the previous commenters made, there are requirements that are a bit more stringent than walk in off the street and hand in an application in a public school.

I am a teacher who was laid off due to a reduction in force. literally the school can't afford me. I applied for jobs and got asked to interview the same day I applied. I already have a job line up for next school year. but I'm trying to find a job as a cashier part time for the summer and noone is calling.

Because there are more people qualified to be cashiers than teachers.
