Today, I found out my babysitter has been selling the breastmilk I produce for my baby and replacing it with formula, while still taking my money every week. FML

Report her! Not only is she stealing but she's not giving the baby what its own mother thought it was receiving!!! Oh this is outrageous!

The next thing you know, the baby will be replaced with a doll and Junior will be "adopted" to Timbuktu

My guess would be a private milk bank. They will pay for donations, unlike most regulated ones. I can only think of one regulated milk bank that pays $1 per ounce. Many women who can't breastfeed (such as women who've had breast cancer), but still want their baby to receive the health benefits of breast milk, use milk banks so they can provide their baby with breast milk. Although she could be selling it online to someone who is using it for entirely different reasons.

You can absolutely take this woman to court. I double checked with my father - he's a state's attorney. Theft, selling of an unregulated product, endangerment (especially if the baby has special health needs), disgusting violation of trust, etc...

That babysitter would "disappear" if she did that to my baby girl.......

Who in the hell is buying this breastmilk? You need to report her, that isn't right.

Where would that idea even come from? Is there a big black market for breast milk?

Actually, yeah. some moms aren't capable of producing. breast cancer patients, or women who have had implants or reductions for example. so there is a market for it.

It's not really a black market. it's actually completely legal and regulated in Canada. makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

not black market. but legal one :) I could sell my breast milk ( currently breastfeeding ) for $5 -$7 an ounce. bodybuilders and others buy it. Google it :)

Holy shiiiiit... I'd cut her....

People wanting breast milk for their baby might be buying it, or some people might just want to replace cows milk with it. I'll probably get negative views or something, but I wouldn't mind replacing cows milk with it, though obviously only through a safe place(doubt a company will do that though) and only through willing people. This FML makes me mad, selling someone's milk and then using formula? Really? How desperate/selfish can you be?

Why does everyone on this site take everything so seriously?

Maybe because not only is this a serious violation of trust, but it deprives the child of the multitude of health benefits received from breast milk.
