Today, I found out my mom recently stopped taking her medication. I came home to find she'd shot my dog because she thought he was possessed by the devil. FML

Today, my mom was in a really bad mood, so I stayed in my room to avoid her. It didn't take long before she barged in and started bitching about my dog, who'd pissed her off by acting too happy. Yes, she's actually that insane, and I have to deal with it on a daily basis. FML

Today, I was awoken by a conversation my mom was having with my dog upstairs. She was telling my dog that a ghost lives in our house. She was completely serious. The ghost even has a name and a backstory. FML

Today, while I took my dog out, my mother began to cook, took a Xanax, locked the doors, and passed out. When I managed to get in, I called the paramedics because she was in the smoke for at least an hour. When she became conscious, she blamed me for everything. FML

Need to get rid of any guns she may have access to, or keep them in a safe she doesn't have the code or combination to. Maybe a good idea to keep pets away from her too. She needs a lot of help. Is there any way to hire someone to watch her during the day to make sure she takes her medication?

Ummm, call her psychiatrist and he'll gladly help get her to the mental home, really the only option now since she poses a threat to everything, and also as long as shes with you get rid of the gun, too dangerous to have in the house

Jesus. I'm so sorry :( she is unsafe to be around other living creatures. Normally I'd say she needs to be beaten to death for shooting a dog, but mental illnesses can be serious. I am so so sorry for the pain you're going through. Make sure she gets help or cease contact until she does. Never allow her alone near your animals again. It will get better. Time will heal.
