how is this a fml? let me guess you are jealous because they won't let you in?
Alright, OP says that it was a family friend. I'm guessing that means the kind that comes over and barbecues with Dad on some nights, helps with some hard yardwork, watches the house when the family goes on vacation and he's not invited, etc. You know, a friend, not a 'creepy person.' Second, WHO CARES? Honestly, parents a welcome to have a sex life, even if it includes someone else. OP should just be thankful his parents aren't the town 'womanizer' and 'lady of the evening.'
To say that OP (and her brother) shouldn't care if her parents engage in a threesome is purely a western attitude (toward family and individuality), and it is this view itself that is narrow-minded. In my non-western culture, parents have a great deal of responsibility to raise their children in a conservative and traditional manner. When relatives (under the blanket of "everyone in town") know about your parent's sexual behavior, no matter how common it may be in western societies, of course it is shameful! It is cause for legitimate concern from the children, who have to deal with the publicly known sexual preferences of their parents This would be extremely embarrassing for me and my siblings, and it is utter ludicrous for someone to tell me I am being selfish and intrusive!
everyone in town is your relative? what a large family you have. at any rate, your post is irrelevant, because the OP lives in the US.
Just because in your "culture" your parents are expected to be close minded pricks, sorry "conservative and traditional" doesn't mean that's the only way to do things or how things should be done. To say people having a threesome is purely western is simply stupid, and to think that embracing a "western" attitude of to each their own is close minded, while supporting what sounds like a far more close minded attitude is both retarded and hypocritical. "Oh noes you don't think everyone has to be like to and you want to give people the freedom to do what they want. Why are you such a narrow minded prick?! STOP OPPRESSING ME!!" or some bullshit like that. Go back to wherever the hell it is that you're from so you can beat your wife and your kids for being themselves. I can't imagine what people in your "culture" do to homosexuals or women who want to be treated as equals.
Also, I can see the kids being hurt for being left out or whatever, but saying that they're parents should do what they do because they might be oppressed is about the least American thing one can do. We don't bow to tyranny, whatever for it may take, we fight it. I suppose 50 years ago you'd be talking down about the same parents if they were a monogamous mixed race couple too, cause back then, that've violated the "conservative and traditional values" of the time, and even the laws in some places. Get off your high horse and STFU or back to your backward country.
What the **** are you talking about? 1. I never said I, nor anyone else, was oppressed. 2. I never said people outside of America or other western countries don't have three somes 3. WTF? You need lessons on reading comprehension. You don't make any sense. I was commenting on the fact that many people on this site don't think a child should express being revolted or ashamed that everyone else knows that their parents have been having a threesome with a guy who goes on family trips with them. FYI: I am American student at Berkeley. I can't imagine how immature you must be to write such a nonsensical and accusatory comment to an idea that challenges your stubbornly held beliefs. Why don't you try thinking outside the scope of American ideals for once?
jujubes88, I'm sorry you got such nasty comments in reply. I really appreciate your giving your point of view from outside the USA/western culture. Shock and embarrassment would be a natural response for lots of kids.
I feel ya. An old friend of mine found out the same thing 2 yrs ago. Her parents stopped doing it, but then her mom divorced her dad and continued to have sex with the woman. Now, she's decided she's 90% lesbian. And the family's going through hell. Adults can be such pieces of shit sometimes.
You need to worry about your poor grammar first and then worry about your parents sex life which really isn't that big of a deal to begin with.

Eww, that is disgusting.
It's FYL for finding out anything about what your parents are into sexually. No one should have to know that.

Oh wow...what do you even say to that? Well, when it comes time to leave home, I suggest you and your brother go far away XP.
OK - things like this - you don't need to know about your folks. Best thing is to realise it is their issue to deal with - nothing you can do. Just be glad you haven't walked in on them!
