Today, I found out that my friend makes more money than I do. She's a high school dropout and working at a retail job at the mall. I went to college for four years to get my job. FML

Except that on average a college graduate with a Bachelor's earns tens of thousands more a year then people who only graduate high school, let alone only some high school and no graduation. Doesn't always work out that way for everyone, but saying that "YDI for thinking that going to college would make you earn more money" is a pretty ridiculously ignorant statement.

That made me smile...but seriously, I hope your job has better benefits. If not, you need to find another job.

I'm going to major in Psychology. Yes, because that's how you spell it. And you bet I'll make more money than you. Not that that's the reason I'm studying psychology of course.

You're probably working entry level and she's on commission. Once you get into professional level and/or management, you'll make more. People with college degrees (on average) earn $1million more over a lifetime than high school dropouts.

You shouldn't be surprise. People who drop out of school always wined up making more money than someone who completed school....life is backwards...

It seems like dropouts are more successful than those who went to college.

She's probably had multiple promotions in that time and so would earn more than you

Now you know who to ask for some cash. "Come on! We're friends! And you make more money than I do . . . so you should just be nice and hand over, oh, I don't know, eighty bucks."
