Today, I found out that the money my boyfriend has "secretly" been putting away for the last two months is not for an engagement ring like I'd thought, but for a trip to Vegas I'm not invited to. FML

to all those hateful comments-- just bc the op assumed the secret money was for an engagement ring and was upset she wasnt invited to the vegas trip DOESNT make her controlling or selfish. it DOESNT mean she expects him to always spend his money on her. and if she is explicitly uninvited, its most likely because he wants to cheat. Vegas is known widely for hard partying and one night stands... its not like the guy is planning a camping trip with his buddies. if he was planning a guys only trip anywhere else, then it would have been more acceptable.

But you don't know OPs personality, maybe he just needed to get away. But yeah I do agree that he could've kept it a secret cuz he was planning to do things he shouldn't be.

True but we dont know the guys personality either. Its aggravating that most of the commenters find it easy to attack the op... And going on vacation (most likely to cheat) to get away from a bad relationship is ridiculous. Hes gonna do whatevr he wants regardless might as well do it single

Cheating is a possibility but not always the case. Maybe he's choosing to go to Vegas because he wants to gamble? haha Who am I kidding, right. Still though, it is hard to make a clear judgement on this based on just OP's short anecdote. However, I do agree that OP is the easy target. And he shouldn't have been trying to keep this trip a secret because it makes him look really shady.

You're right, a guy shouldn't have to take his girlfriend everywhere with him. he just shouldn't keep it a secret from her and make it seem like he's up to no good.
