Today, I found out that whenever I send my son to his room, he goes on his iPod and buys the most expensive apps he can find. So far I've been charged $600. FML

Well take his ipod and don't give him any money till the 600$ are paid off. Can parents not raise their children anymore, that's just sad.

your lucky he hasn't found the $999.99 apps yet

Ydi for letting him have your info on file... Such a selfish little brat shouldn't even have the privilege of owning a device like that...

I hope you mean HE'S been charged $600. Make him pay for it with more chores. You probably don't make him do chores anyway. Or at least take his iPod.

ydi for letting him have access to your credit card

You can get a refund on the apps. Go into your purchase history on iTunes and you can "report a problem" I believe. If you explain the problem, apple will probably refund it.

You take his iPod and other expensive things, and pawn them in till he pays you back. That will teach him.

ever heard of actually disciplining him by taking away the iPod until he settles down? or maybe he's doing it out of frustration because you're doing something wrong? just sayin'.

Yes, te thing he believes his mother is doing wrong is sending him to his room... so of course he's right to spend half a month rent on apps. I swear children are getting dumber.

Back in my day when I was grounded and sent to my room my mother would come upstairs and take the key wires to my SNES. She wouldn't bother with the TV because I'd need to keep it on silent in order to watch as if she heard it I was pretty much F*cked. I don't know what went wrong along the way but it seems like parents have for some reason decided a good ol' grounding is too rough/inhumane for their kids. . .And that is why kids these days are completely unruly. You deserve it, frankly, for not being stern with your kids - There is no discipline that way - Sending a kid to their room is one of the best things a kid can hope for if you don't take away their electronics because that's where all their fun stuff is usually. Frankly, if your son is purchashing IPOD apps to get back at you [first of all, take away your CC from his Apple Account, or parental controls] the first thing I would have done is take the damn thing away for a week or two. . .Happens 2-3 times?. . .Sell the damn thing to teach him a lesson. Kids need to be held accountable because in the real world they're accountable, they need to learn this quickly or they won't function in life.

Obviously you need to take away the damn iPod! Your son obviously doesnt respect you if he thinks this is funny, especially since you made it seem that he has done this more than once. Next time you send him to his room Take away all his 'Toys'.......seems like thats the prob with kids.....they have so much that the minor punishments are nothing to them. You can bet he also has a computer, tv, dvd player, and tons of other electronics in his room. As far as the $600 bill goes, hope you make him work it off. I would have him scrub floors and clean every crevice of my house to pay me back, unless he could get a job.

serves you right for giving him your iTunes password or bank details
