Today, I gave my dad a brochure for anger management. His response? Throwing a chair out the window. FML

I don't think he likes your idea very much

He sounds dangerous. Kill him before he kills you.

No, seriously ... if someone wants to behave like an animal, treat them as such. And as we all know, sometimes it's best to put a dangerous animal down.

It's partly because my own dad died recently, but I can't stand to see that concept treated so lightly. But I'll just leave now. Maybe it made someone laugh, but not me.

Sorry to hear about your dad. However, my thoughts remain my thoughts. (they may be harsh, but the behavior of some people just sickens me.)

Or maybe said "someone" has an actual problem and doesn't *choose* to act like "an animal", but does so because of genetic or environmental factors, which can be treated to manage the threat to society without killing the human being inside it.

OP gave the dad a brochure to try to help, so obviously they care, and view their dad as more than just "an animal." As sick as some people may be, there are still those who care for and depend upon them.

Good point. I'm sure after throwing the chair out the window, the father will come to his senses & get the help he needs. OR he could just let his anger get the better of himself again until he physically lashes out at someone & regrets it. (but that's just crazy talk.)

I used to have a dog named Jack, he was about one and a half when we had to put him down. He was a very friendly dog, loved people, loved other dogs, but one day he just started to go crazy. He tried to bite everyone that came near him and he did bite my brother. We took him to the vet to see if we could get some help but we had to put him down. So just because you get an animal or a person help, it does not mean they get better. Some times it's better to put them down.

if he continues to be aggressive and have these episodes and they become more and more violent, it might help to talk to a school guidance counselor for advice. worst case they might report your dad and you can blame the counselor for doing it while telling your dad that you tried to talk to him but he got angry so you didn't know what to do.
