And stop saying were in a recession. Were in a Depression. It has not been this bad sense the great depression. The its not as bad is because the banks are insured and people wont lose there money in the bank.
It's not, actually. During the Great Depression, the unemployment rate got as bad as 25%. And this was in a time where not nearly as many women worked. So we're talking men, here, for the most part. Women who never had jobs to begin with don't figure into the statistics. People were burying money in the back yard and growing their own food to keep from starving. It's not nearly that bad right now--my grandmother-in-law lived through the Depression, and she thinks you're an idiot.
Jeez, Jake221, learn how to spell. #55 is right, its not a depression. If it was, we'd all be screwed.
I agree that #53 is an idiot, but keep in mind that the current unemployment rate in the US is at 15%-17%. If companies keep being idiots and laying people off, it wouldn't be far fetched to consider that unemployment levels could reach 1930's levels within a year or so.
I've always found raises like that stupid as hell. With the cost of living so high, $.10 means virtually nothing as it takes so long to build up into something. Better than nothing, yes, but raises should be at least $.50 IMO. Particularly if you've been with the company for years.
I've worked at my job for 3 years, I've never gotten a raise, and new employees get paid way more than I do. But that does still suck
****** blow me. ive been at the same job for one month shy of 3 years and im still at minimum wage. granted, minimum wage has gone up 3 times since I started, but its still the minimum. maybe you have a shitty work ethic or the bosses don't like you...deal with it. at least you are making money, ive been getting 3 hours a week at minimum wage, which barely covers the gas i use in a week. at least you dont have to resort to selling drugs to make money.
In this economy, you should stop complaining and just be glad you have a job at all.
wah wah wah! Get the **** over yourself you asshat. At least you're working. Right on #64. Hell, quit...I'll move there to take your job.
what a bunch of sexist pigs, I know women who do a better job then men and get paid jack shit...thank God Obama signed that thing for fair equal pay earlier this year. where do you work, CVS? i worked there for 3 1/2 years, and got a total of 50 cent raise since working there. what pissed me off more is when they hired new people and I was TRAINING them to be managers, instead of having me be a manager. that was bullshit. but then i starting working at Stop and Shop and I made more an hour in 3 months and 2 raises later than I did the 3 1/2 years at CVS. so you probably work at a company that doesn't take care of its employees. I have a degree and still work at Stop and Shop, can't find work either. Pretty soon Stop and Shop won't pay for my car loan, insurance, credit cards, huge medical bills and coming in November the first payments of my $60,000 in student loan debt so I wouldn't be stuck at Stop and Shop and get a good paying job. **** that. At least people who lost their jobs in their field have experience, and I can't even find a job to gain experience to get up in life. I've been finding lots of jobs all over the country, however they're looking for people who have 5 years or more experience. Even more sad, I'm pretty sure if I got laid off (which they can't, we're union, thank God, which is saving my ass in this time of crisis) I would make more from unemployment than from actually working, since I've been working retail 9 years, and worked more than one job a year. advice for you missy, call corporate, better yet, find a male who's been working there as long as you and find out if he's getting paid more, then threaten them about the bill Obama signed. that's what I would do. Or find a union job. ASAP.
@#68 You stupid ******* bitch. I hate when people automatically assume sexism when something happens to a woman. And guess what, if she finds a man who makes more money than him, MAYBE HE'S DOING A BETTER JOB! OP seems like someone who would do a shitty job and then expect to get paid as much as someone who works their ass off.
Did you search through every FML just to find the ones I've posted on? I find this slightly creepy at this point. Anyway, yeah, a lot of times it's sexism. But this FML in no way insinuates that it could be sexism, at all. Just because the OP is listed as a woman, people assume that it is sexism.
