I had a similar issue the past semester where in an assigned, 3-person group, we had to write a Thematic ESOL-infused Unit Plan (in this case, 3 lesson plans). My two group members would not email me back when I would try to talk to them about it (it was for an online class). I ended up writing a 20-page unit plan on the five senses, and got an email from one of my group members 50 minutes before it was due saying she could come up with a lesson on the Three Little Pigs (which was a ridiculous notion in itself). The guy had dropped the course without telling us, and the girl offered to do the next assignment herself, like I could trust her to get work done. I got my revenge when it came time to fill out our group evaluation forms. Point being, sometimes you've got to just pick up the slack. I know your partner texted you at the last minute, but you could have asked for proof that he or she was actually completing the assignment. The responsibility falls on you as well. Hopefully your professor will go a little lenient on you, given the circumstance, but he may also point out that you should have been mindful of both halves, because his poor work ethic reflects on both of you.

The last time someone pulled that crap on me I beat them down. I suggest you do the same thing.
