Today, I got a text message. My phone was sitting on the edge of the bed and set on vibrate, so it fell off. I reached down to grab my phone and fell off the bed. My macbook landed on top of me. I fractured my arm and broke my laptop to read a text from facebook. FML

Yet another reason to hate facebook.

First of all: Don’t post any comments which could negatively influence on the veracity of a FML or even on the anecdote’s potential to be a FML. Don’t ruin others pleasure. [That is in the posting rules, in case you haven't read them.] Secondly, I have also done far less with a laptop than drop it from a bed to have it stop working, so that definitely could happen. And, it doesn't matter how big the fall is or how hard it is, so much as HOW they fall, so someone could very easily break their arm falling off of their bed, especially if their arm was reached out to pick up a cell phone.

Learned your lesson about using Facebook mobile? Everrthing's fine in moderation, see. This is why everyone should be a ninja. You coulda balanced on one pinky, picked up ur phone w ur foot, and caught ur macbook in ur mouth. No broken bones or comps. YDI for not being a ninja.

Next time, try setting the Macbook to the side so it DOESN'T fall off the bed. You got a text message - it'll still be there if you take an extra second for caution.

I agree with #12 and #13. laptops are unpredictable and can survive a fall from a table but crash and have the hard drive break from not moving at all ( as mine did >.< ) and have any of you watched "scarred"? 3/4 of the broken arms are from falls from the normal height of a bed. so dont go jumping to conclusions b/c something is unlikely. his/her laptop falling probably disctracted him/her from the fall so she landed akwardly and had no time to catch the laptop. and lol at #21

Serves you right for using Facebook... and buying a Mac.

macs break easily, but they're still superior in other ways without question.

Technology overload much? Why do you need facebook messages sent to your cell if your laptop is within arms reach? You're probably the kind of person that has to check their facebook/myspace/etc. 100 times a day to see if anyone noticed you. This is just sad.

douche...use your brain, the OP isn't always sitting in the bed with his laptop..wow

Well that stinks. I agree with #15, I was just about to state that. You should set it so FB doesn't send you notifications of any kind. And sorry about your arm. Oh the irony.

wait how did a mac book fracture your arm? im pretty sure the'ye not THAT heavy

wow. that sucks. my laptop fell off my bed while i was sleeping and it sucked. the screen broke and it costed me $100 to fix. i don't have a mac book so it wasn't that big of a deal. as for your arm, that sucks too. but i don't really see how it could have been that bad.
