Today, I got fired from my job at a small start-up company. Why? The CEO wanted to give a job to one of his former fraternity brothers who is out of work, and they couldn't afford to keep us both. FML

Today, I got fired. Not because of anything I did, but because my best friend, who'd I'd gotten hired, stood up for herself when both the owner's wife and daughter became disrespectful professionally. She then quit and got a job with a competitor. They started looking at her LinkedIn. Two weeks later, I get canned. FML

Today, I was fired from my job for "lack of work". What that means is that my boss hired his good-for-nothing lazy son, who then got too big of a mortgage, and he had to let me go to pay him a higher salary. FML

Today, I got fired from my job. My boss is my brother. His reason being that, "it would create awkward tension between us." I've been working for him for 5 years, and it's like he's only just realised that I was there. FML

Today, I was fired from my job of 5 years. I was let go because I couldn't take the company to 'the next level'. My now ex-boss asked me if I could process my severance check because he didn't know how. I had to write myself my last paycheck. FML

Technically he could sue, depending on what state he lives in. I bet it couldn't hurt his case if he managed to find a way to prove his claim. However, by firing you for no damned good reason, the company now has to pay out unemployment benefits soooo you sort of stick it to them in the end. Hell of a time to lose your job though.

There are a lot of people out there that need a job... and I guess you joined them! =P He most likely was deciding who to fire regarding how hard they work, and maybe your name was just thrown in the hat.
