That is rubbish. The elderly should be respected and treated with the type of kindness you'd present to a child. I absolutely detest when people treat our elders poorly because of their deteriorating sight, hearing and health. It disgusts me! Can you imagine what they feel? Some of them are dumped there without choice and forgotten and then they're not even allowed to receive kindness from the people who look after them? Bullshit. If my grandparents ever land in a nursing home like that I will take them out and let them live with me, even if it causes me to cut every luxury I currently enjoy. OP, keep your head high and keep that kindness - you were RIGHT, that boss is an asshole that will one day land in the same position and I hope he receives the kind of kindness he gives when he does. You need to report this to whatever state agency is responsible for this facility. Also, do you want your job back? Go back and tell the douche bag you are contacting,all the residents families and tell then why you were fired and what he said. Mention you have,it on tape. Bring along an attorney for good measure.

It's people like your boss that make me want to never enter a home when I'm old. Sorry OP. it sounds like you really were better at your job than he is, and there are companies that put the kind I care you were providing first an foremost and will commend you for that care. I call bullshit. If this is true, your boss was making up an excuse to fire you. But seriously, no one gets fired for being too nice to old people. That doesn't interfere with the job at all.

Our culture is seriously effected by this. Other societies respect and learn from their elderly, we hide from the reality of death by hiding them away. It's pitiful and selfish.
