oops... if it was the case with me.. i would be terminated every week. happy job hunting
Welcome to the real world, with real consequences. I am so sick and tired of everyone who feels they are above the rules. You are not special. You know your job and your responsibilities. It is not the managers fault you chose not to abide by the rules. Totaly your own fault.
84 seconds could easily be the difference between clocks. At my work the stores clocks can quite easily be as much as 5 minutes between the earliest and latest one. You jump to the conclusion that they purposely closed early, and that they thought they could get away with breaking rules for whatever reason. I can't count the number of times I have looked at one clock and it said 7:01 so I close and lock the door, only to look at a different clock and see it says 6:59....
One minute and twenty four seconds isn't a large gap for someone to throw assloads of cash in ANY business. It's just an asshole manager.
It could be that you were already on warnings (as to fire someone just for this is unreasonable). Though it does seem very unfair to me even if you were on warnings.
Wow 84 seconds. Unbelievable. Did they ever pay you for the time you spent counting up the money after the store closed or the vacuuming of the floor etc. no they don't but they expect their employees to work many hours over time with unpaid leave but lord help you if you close 84 seconds early. Well if I were you I would tally up all the hours you worked unpaid during your time there and invoice them for your services. But also find out what legal position you have to stand on in terms of being fired and unpaid work. So when you hand then your bill they can't throw it back in your face. Good luck.
This post was in Victoria Australia. The labour laws in Australia don't allow for this without history. I call bull shit. Maybe the guy got written up or maybe this was the 10th time he did it.
I highly doubt that you'd have gotten a raise and promotion had you kept the store open 84 seconds longer than the posted hours, so firing you seems a bit much. Nonetheless, you expect to get paid for your time just like the store expects to get your time for the pay. It's fairly straightforward.
Wow.. Seriously doesn't he has better things to do?
You were acting pretty reasonably; it's not feasible for an employee to perform to a T 100% of the time. I'm pretty sure they had no real reason to fire you, and you could take them to court.

Some people are complaining about the 84 seconds.....well i'm more concerned about the manager with his binoculars.
Doesn't seem like a great place to work if they are that uptight and not understanding, you'd be a lot happier in a nicer workplace I presume so it would be better in the end , but why would be bother wait outside is what I'm wondering
