Today, I got my paycheck. I was really excited since I've been broke for the last two weeks. On my way home, I got pulled over and got a ticket for expired tags. The $90 for new tags plus $135 for the citation will leave me with enough to buy a burger. FML

Maybe renew your tags on time like a responsible adult and this won't happen.

cos when you cant afford food you have the option of budgeting things...

If you can't afford food why would you be driving? Gas is expensive...

@166 not everyone lives within walking or travelling distance to their workplace or university. if i didnt drive id have to take 2 hours one way to my workplace last year. thats a total of 4 hours travelling time that most people dont have time for. dont even get me started on country residents or those in the outer suburbs who may end up travelling for several hours on public transport just to get to work. for those with families or study to do, 4+ hours is a lot of time to give up every day, assuming there actually is public transport nearby anyway.

166 cuz OP has to go to work dumb ass, and public trans can be expensive

You deserve it. You violate the law, you deserve to pay. My friend got pulled over and ticketed for the same thing and I told him he deserved it too.

And that's where he broke contact with you and you ran out of friends

@30 its the law in some countries that people cant engage in gay relationships. in some areas its illegal for people to swear. do they deserve to pay too? or is it moronic to assume that because something is a law it is therefore right and you DESERVE whatever you get for not following it?

if u bring the documents to court showing that you've renewed ur tags the judge will likely strike down the ticket

The judge could just as likely make you pay all the amount, PLUS court costs.

The judge could do whatever the f**k he wants...

Actually depending on the state, county circuit judges are elected so for a minor traffic offense especially if it was not a moving violation, judges in these states will frequently knock it down to about a $25 fine, because they want to keep their constituents happy.

This, and court probably isn't for about a month anyway so you have the extra $135 for a bit longer.

Yeah but OP paid the tags after getting pulled over, you can't go to court and be like "I paid AFTER they fined me"

Yes you can. The judge will still knock off a bit of the ticket if you prove you're registered again, because as most people, - well besides the ones on FML apparently - know that that is a retarded if not completely pointless law with no affect on the public.

well you were expired, what did you expect? the cop give you a burger and let you go on your merry little way. sorry you got caught, but that's life. you break the law, you get caught, you pay!

The fact that this is the second comment you've made on a second fml today where you can't spell "sense" right clearly shows that you were dropped on your head as a baby. Repeatedly. Please don't ever reproduce.

I was not droppeded on my head well only once but it was light

...that's what your parents want you to think...

YDI, OP. License plate renewal notices are sent out a few months before your plates expire. You should have ordered them on time and put them on on time.

How much you want to bet OP did not pay her auto insurance too?
