Today, I got pulled off a hugely important project, all because I accidentally spelled "country" as "cuntry" in an email to our client. FML

If it's so important, you should have triple checked. So, YDI

Don't you know it's impolite to call clients a ****?

YDI. no excuse for not triple checking important work.

There's spell check. If it was that important, why didn't you use it?

My email has spell check it will underline a misspelled word in red i thought all emails did that now

I was thinking the same thing. Even with the spell check I have someone else proof read any important emails I send.

I'm wondering why a simple spell check seemed so unnecessary if it was a really important project. Though it was kinda too much to pull you out of the project, I guess YDI. Should have been a little more careful about it.

That's abit stupid that you can be fired over a typo, but I guess it's a really important client that they can't afford to lose?

OP wasn't fired though, merely removed from that project and likely assigned a different one. This could be because the client requested it, or maybe it wasn't the first error they've made. If this project is so bit why didn't OP use spell check, or have someone else proof read, or do it themselves?

Dear Fatman1970--People who do not have a good grasp on English grammar should not attempt to scold others on the subject of Spelling. You could end up looking like one of those awkward grown men who thinks putting sunglasses on a dog is so funny that they turn it into their profile picture...a little sloooow.

At least he knows how to use the reply button and not sound like an asshole with his comment, unlike you right now.

Dear 27, before criticizing others for petty errors, learn when to use an em dash and when to use a comma—they're not interchangeable! Also, learn the difference between proper nouns and common nouns. 'English' is a proper noun (the name of a language), therefore it is capitalized. 'Spelling' is a common noun (a general subject), and is not capitalized—unless, of course, it's at the beginning of a sentence. It's worth noting, too, that you can easily make both em dashes (—) and ellipses (…) on most phone and computer keyboards, thus eliminating any typographic inconsistencies and smoothing out your typing and making you look much more intelligent.

Actually it's semantically appropriate, as country, ****, and kin all have the same word origin. But attention to detail is important, just proof read your submissions in future...
