Let this be motivation to move up to a better job where they aren't Nazis.
If I'm honest I find this quite odd.. At my work we're encouraged to clock in early, my work like the saying: "to be on time is to be late and to be late is unacceptable". Of course everywhere is different. As everyone else has said, try to clock in on time, if not, it's probably better to be early than late. :)
OP could just not come back at all. not recommended, but an option nonetheless.
How hard is it to remember what time you clocked out, and clock in at the exact right time? I do it every day... We get written up for clocking in a minute early too, but I'm betting for a whole different reason than you do. If we clock in early, it automatically puts 15 minutes of overtime on our time card.
actually, if you're over 18 you're not required to get a break. I researched it when I thought I was getting screwed. turns out I wasn't, they didn't have to give me a break.
Where do you live coz I can't think of anywhere that not allowing breaks isn't illegal.
Someone obviously doesn't want to pay you for the several extra seconds.
this is one moment where I'm thankful that I work at the YMCA and don't have to clock in/out for lunch. getting in trouble for being late I understand, but for voluntarily coming back early its ridiculous.
YDI, if you can't follow simple rules like that then that's your problem. If all of my coworkers and myself can clock in and out on time then you should be able to as well.

Try and be right on time is the only advice I can offer.
Jeez, is he trying to keep the office in lockdown or something?
