Today, I had a job interview at a local business with the owner who was man, and the manager who was a woman. I thought I did pretty well because I heard the manager whisper so, as I was walking out. Then I heard the owner whisper "no fat chicks." FML
I agree, your life sucks 44 564

People can be so disrespectful. :/ As though your weight has any bearing on how well you can do the job. It sounds like the owner was just being a jackass, so you're probably better off not working there at all. And btw, we have no idea what the OP looks like. The comments about she needs to lose weight are just stupid.

Weight discrimination (as well as other discrimination based on physical appearance) is legal in "the entertainment industry," which includes stripping, acting, ****, etc. Since we don't know if the OP is in entertainment, it's hard to tell, but since the job was "an interview" and not "an audition," it's probably discriminatory. But yeah-- some of you seem to be confused about why a strip club can discriminate based on waistband, but an office can't. When it's an entertainment job, a primary qualification for the job is what you look like, so employers are permitted to use that in the hiring decision. I'd say the OP has an FML, but it sounds like they have a really lucrative lawsuit just waiting to happen, instead.

but even **** has BBW and I've been told there's big girl nights at a few strip clubs around me, so even in those two there's a chance for employment :)

ignore'em. he's an ass. im pretty hefty myself. nothing wrong with being a chunky chick.

i mean look at the bright side, fat chicks get all the girls :) oh wait......, nevermind

Whoa whoa! You moron! You just missed out on a great lawsuit opportunity!

I have read in numerous articles that the average size of today's woman is an American size 14. No sweety, I'm not high. If I were, I'd probably be just as skinny as you. A 4 is tiny as hell. Before you accuse me of being high, why don't you do a little research? And I suggest washing your mouth out with soap, with that language.

you could sue for discrimination...and a size 14 seems kind of unhealthy?

Sorry but nobody wants to work with a fat chick!!! Just start going to the gym and do something to lose weight it is healthy and people will not be disgusted when they look at you.

I didn't say a size 14 was healthy # 106. I said it was the average size. There is a difference....

Well... its a fact that fat people tend to have more health issues than non fat people. So a fatty would be more likely to take days off work due to 'sickness', and they would end up costing more in terms of health coverage. So aside from the obvious aesthetic reasons, there are actual performance issues that should be considered when you think about hiring fat people.

**** all these haters, and **** the owner. i don't care WHAT you look like, there is NO. WAY. that you should be denied a job just because of some one's idiotic idea of the perfect body type. SUE HIS ASS OFF.
