Today, I had a job interview at a local business with the owner who was man, and the manager who was a woman. I thought I did pretty well because I heard the manager whisper so, as I was walking out. Then I heard the owner whisper "no fat chicks." FML

People can be so disrespectful. :/ As though your weight has any bearing on how well you can do the job. It sounds like the owner was just being a jackass, so you're probably better off not working there at all. And btw, we have no idea what the OP looks like. The comments about she needs to lose weight are just stupid.

You can either sue him or lose some weight. I would suggest the latter, fatty.

People need to chill. It's his establishment, he can choose who he wants to hire based on his own criteria. If she was being FIRED for being too fat, then yea, you might have a descrimination suit on hand. In reality, it was probably an establishment where appearance did matter (ie. caters to male customers).

It's illegal to refuse to hire someone for that reason for most jobs. You could potentially use this to your advantage.

eat some vegetables, and take a jog fatty

#61.... lol. Apparently you failed your law class then? Yes, she is in a protected class (women) but that is not what they were discriminating against. Also, the fact that the manager was female would stop that lawsuit in its tracks. Also.... Affirmatie action only applies to companies with large government contracts - look it up. Other companies don't have to hire a minority if he is not qualified.

You really need to file a complaint against them.

Everyone shut up about sueing them! You would never win that case unless you recorded him say it. He could state any reason he wanted for not giving you the job. For example, that he didn't think you'd fit in with the current employees, that you don't have the right attitude, or that he had a clash of personalities with you.

If you're fat, that's your fault. I wouldn't want to hire a fat person. If they don't even care about themselves, how can I trust them to care about the job they're doing?

Serves you right for being fat.

Depending on the job, he can choose to hire someone smaller because that may qualify them better, but what you should do is lose weight and go back and reapply and see what they say then.
