Today, I had a substitute teacher for my dance class. I noticed at one point, he took out a camera. The principal came in, everyone was going crazy, and the teacher was dragged out of the classroom. He was taking videos and pictures of us dancing. Turns out he was a registered sex offender. FML

don't they do background checks on all teachers? even subs? i hope they confiscated that camera and burned the film!

maybe they freaked out because they knew he was a sex offender, there is a chance that they can get a job as a substitute teacher. the principal knew and some of the staff knew, but maybe the kids didn't know so they were like wtf? eh who knows

for those who don't believe it's true, trust me it sadly is. when i was a junior in high school, my school offered a drivers ed class. my teacher sexually harrassed me and when i reported it to the princpal and then police, they discovered all the information he put on his application, name, address, everything was all made up. they have no idea WHO this guy was. schools suck.

not true... it depends on your state, but especially your school district... There are teachers who will just go teach in another state. The monitoring of sex offenders relies heavily on public assistance. The system is just overwhelmed.

Background checks aren't so great at my school. We've had two teachers in the past four years fired due to teacher-student relationships, one of which occurred at the school the second teacher was fired from before.

Okkkkkk, Yea, sorry to say OP, even though you know this, your school is VERY crappy. I know schools are losing money and all due to the economy and all, but a Registered sex offended as a sub? That is messed up.
