It is better to know the company and what to wear. I once applied for a job that was physical labor but my dad (who was a blue collar guy) insisted I wear a skirt and blouse to look professional. The interviewers were all in jeans and t-shirts. They all looked at me as if I was crazy and despite having previous experience I didn't get that job. Luckily the interviewer didn't judge you by your clothes. Congrats on the job!
NEVER wear jeans to an interview, regardless of the place's dress code. YDI.
Always dress up when going to a job interview, as they say, "first impressions lasts".
in my opinion, it doesn't matter what the job is, always dress for success. id say you could've helped yourself there. is a lesson we learn though right. best of luck with the job hunting ?
Congratulation on the new job, OP. I have to agree with 88 though. What to dress for a job interview is not something to joke about as inappropriate attire might very well give the wrong impression to the potential employer, and end up costing you the job. It sounds like your friend might have wanted to sabotage your chances of getting it. If she did, then it's awesome that her plan didn't work and you got the job anyway :)
Omg love your profile pic
thats all on you everyone knows Job interview mess dress "like and adult" unless recruiter says otherwise
The only interviews I have never dressed up for I was specifically told to come in in jeans and a t-shirt. One was for a tow dispatch job the other was as an assistant for an equine vet that traveled to farms.
I would've dressed for a business/office setting regardless. That's probably how'd the interviewers would want you to dress anyway for an interview.

Even if the office has a casual dress policy, you should have worn a business suit for your interview.
Casually kick your friend's ass
