Today, I had an interview for an office job. As a requirement, I had to show up dressed for the job. My friend has worked there for years and told me it was casual dress. I wore jeans and a blouse. Everyone else had on business suits. Obviously my friend doesn't know what casual means. FML

Even if the office has a casual dress policy, you should have worn a business suit for your interview.

It makes me cringe that you're upset because you wore jeans to your interview.

There's one simple rule you should remember: if you don't know the dress code, just go for the business suit.

Yup still your fault. Regardless of what your friend says you Always dress professionally. I'm guessing you didn't get the job

no honey, YOURE the one that doesnt know what casual means. your friend clearly meant business casual which never ever includes jeans, YDI

Totally deserve it. You don't sound ready for a job if you don't know how to dress for an interview or what "casual" means in a business sense.

I have been lucky then cause i have always dress casual for a interview and i got the job both times.

And since when is it ok not to dress up for an interview?

Never show up at an interview in jeans. Never. Or anything that has to do with casual wear.

Always, always wear a suit on an interview, no exceptions. None. Not even to a Mac D interview.

Either your friend meant business casual (because yes, that's a thing) or he/she doesn't want you to work there.
