Today, I had the questionable honor of explaining the difference between "your" and "you're" to my boss, and very diplomatically make her see why her poor grasp of language could affect our credibility as a communication agency. I'm Swedish, and English is my third language. She's American. FML

This will probably offend some people, but oh well. I'm an American. Let's just say that I can name a few different versions of "English" that I've heard that you probably wouldn't recognize. I wouldn't expect much from the stereotypical American. #yoloswaql8rlol

Accidentally tappes YDI ! BUT I'm sorry. English is my second, but I hear where you're coming from. Some people need to take basic English all over.

Come on... Do you really expect an American to know the dofference between your and you're? We can barely spell "business"

Try explaining "then" and "than" to your boss. Many people use them interchangeably.

F### it, the U.S. don't know what they're doing with our language, they should make the effort to use it well or not at all.

This one American does not represent all Americans.

"The US don't know what they're doing..." Yeah, and neither do you, apparently. That sentence hurt my eyes.

It's sad that an over-promoted moron should come to represent Americans in this situation.

a learned language is always better than native I was told by my French professor that native English speakers do not speak proper English

Most of us don't know how to speak English, however, there are exceptions.. If you tried to tell me I couldn't speak English properly I'd get explosively angry.

Well of course your French professor said that, he's French. When have they ever had anything positive to say about England?

Haha I'm a co-founder of a tech startup and have done this about 20 times with my other co-founder. The guy thinks he's such a genius but can't wrap his mind around the fact that "your" isn't a substitute for "you are".

Great, another idiot for foreign FMLers to judge the entire country by...

Lived in Detroit area 8 years ... While there are always exceptional and great people that form the exception, unfortunately a large percentage of americans are exactly as described in those fml posts. Not to say these kind of people don't exist in other countries either ... here in Germany we also have a severe case of -especially young people- failing to grasp the most simple concepts of orthography and grammar.

I hate to say it, but, my fellow Americans (to include myself) have become increasingly ignorant and lazy in the use of our own language.
