Yes but appearance does matter, as much as a lot of people try to convince themselves that it doesn't. If you don't find someone attractive, you don't date them anyway because hey, they might be a nice person. By the sounds of it this was more a case of knowing your body, dress for the body you have, not the body you want. But even then, certain clothes make slim people look awful and then it becomes a case of 'just because you can, doesn't mean you should'.

Yeah, it's not just about appearence. But there's a difference between being born with an ugly nose and just completely not caring about your own body and letting it go. I find overly obese people repulsive, because (apart from few cases where medicin or hormonal disorders cause obesity), most people who are fat are so, because they don't have the will power to do something about it. What is inside shows on the outside - if I see a fat person, I see a person who lacks the will to take care of themselves. Obesity leads to many diseases like diabetes - How attractive is the personality of a person who doesn't care about that? How would that person be as a mother/father - can't take care of him/herself, how would the person be able to take care of a child?

How about manners! You don't put your hand down your pants in public no matter WHO you are!
