Today, I had to take a drugs test at work. Later, I found out it was my fiancé's mother who called our hotline. Her reason: I work till 6 pm, her "baby" should eat before that, but he can't cook, so I should quit my job. He is 35. And he thinks I should apologize for upsetting her at dinner. FML

OP here: Result - negative. Why I didn't know about the cooking issue - well, it wasn't an issue for the last 4 years when we lived abroad. It seems it is a recent skill loss, like since we came back 3 months ago and found a place to live near his parents.

Did you ever doubt that the drug test would come back negative? It seems like your fiancé is quite the Mamma's boy, which is not always a bad thing! You two need to talk and agree to set some sort of boundaries with his Mom now, before its too late. OR move to another country away from family! Good luck OP

The fact that his mother still feels the need to treat him like he's a defenses child when he's actually old enough to be able go out and buy himself food-I give her a big thumbs up for her parenting skills

firstly... I highly doubt he is physically incapable of cooking. if he is I apologise but I suspect he is simply too lazy. secondly... he should have stood up for OP and he didn't. what the hell kind of partner does that? his mother was in the wrong.

I agree with the above posters: RUN!!! Move far away from his mother. If he comes with you: fine. If not: find a man who has already cut his umbilical cord.
