This isn't that uncommon. The theory behind it is no one wants an employee who has no incentive to put any effort in since they're leaving. Especially since it has been shown tonhave a contagious effect on the work ethic of other employees causeing a loss in performance across the board.
At my last job, I merely mentioned that I was thinking of going to college and my hours got cut in half. It was several weeks before I put in the official notice. I wasn't happy, but it showed me another side of my boss, so I was glad to get away from there. Good luck, OP.
This happened to me too! My manager was a stupid bitch. I'm sorry you went through that.
That sucks I'm sorry. I don't know about Texas but I do know in a lot of states if you give your notice and then they fire you/lay you off/ cut all your shifts by law they have to pay you. It may be worth checking with the labor board. Good luck and onto better things!
Depending on what kind of job it is, it is fairly standard to let someone go when they give their 2 weeks notice. Typically efficiency drops and rate of injury skyrockets for those with their notice in.
thats pretty common. in that 2 weeks you become a greater liability
It's asked of you to put in a 2 week notice, it's not required of you to do so. You just might not be hired back with that company, that's all
A bit of a welcome to the real world. If you are going to give notice to a company, you better be prepared for immediate termination.

I have a manager who does something similar; if you ask for a week off, she doesn't schedule you the week after that either. It sucks, especially if you need the money, but at least you won't have to work under that kind of management much longer.
Same thing happened to me with my last job. Luckily I was giving my two weeks due to the fact that I got another job though so I didn't need the last shifts. Looking at your username I'm assuming you're not in dire need of those last shifts either so that's good.
