Today, I have been teaching my 5 year-old step-daughter how to read and write. She came bounding up to me with a piece of paper and said, "look what I did". It was a letter that said "My dad misses my real mommy, not you". FML

well its been a while since you posted this want you to know i am sorry. i know thay hurt your feelings. being Step mom is hard esp when you are trying to help put like you seeem to be dping. keep your chin up. it gets better. my situation is complicated bit the yeats have made it netter and its great now.

You really need to discipline her on that. Let her know that she can't get away with being disrespectful like that.

Well, at least ur doing a good job teaching her. That was a WHOLE SENTENCE she wrote!!!

She's a child and was most likely projecting her own feelings. She probably misses having her mommy and daddy together. It's wishful thinking on her part, and it's a natural way of dealing with the trauma of divorce. Talk to your husband about it. She might need help dealing with her feelings.

That is a well written sentence for a five year old.

I wonder if she knows something or she's just saying that.
