Today, I heard back from my store management interview at Target. I was offered an overnight stock clerk position. When I called HR to find out if my application was in the wrong file I was told I lack the leadership qualities necessary for Target. I graduated with honors from a military school. FML

I don't get why you're complaining. Military school obviously leaves you with an inferior education for working at Target. There's stocking shelves, answering phones, operating a cash register, mopping floors. You may even have to show customers where things are located in the store. I think you may actually have to have your PhD to work there.

dude target turns down everyone. eff them.

Haha. I've worked at Target for nearly three years. In Target talk "lacking leadership abilities" means that you aren't someone they think they can manipulate. You lost out on nothing.

Assuming you haven't been dishonorably discharged or severely injured, you should be continuing your military career. You're not going to find many jobs that compare to it in the civilian sector--especially not in this market and especially not at TARGET of all places.

#29: All of the claims you posted are refuted by Snopes. They give at the corporate level, not the local store level. Check before you spread crap. click my link for the page

ig you graduated with honors from the military, why the hell are you applying at target???

Target = anti-military. My ex husband was a SARGENT in the Army and an Iraqi Freedom vet, and when he came back to civilian land, Target had him working the floor because he was "lacking leadership qualities" and (I kid you not) because the manager didn't feel he would respond well to high-paced high stress work!! He worked there 2 years, and they refused to promote him...needless to say, he re-joined the army! In short, don't feel bad, Target wouldn't know a good employee if they saw one!

It sounds like it was an issue with the interview. Your education doesn't mean anything if you don't come across as someone they would like managing their store.

You graduate from Military school with honors and you are applying at Target of all places. That just does not sound bright. I agree with the above comment. If Target denies you a management position then you obviously did something wrong during the interview. They hire the stupidest people for management there. lol

#47 - Please don't classify everyone who works at Target as having 'shit for brains'. Not all of us are morons. I work at Target and take offense to that. I've got a really great job there and love working for the company. I'm also a four time published author.

trust me, the Target Corporation doesn't necessarily give people jobs depending on their classifications, they just do it on their needs and have a "if you want it take it" attitude. Believe me, I know.
