Today, I heard on the news that the average debt one is in when they graduate college is $24,000. I've been in college for one year and my debt is already $20,000. And it turns out that my school's accreditation does not exist like I was told. $20,000 in debt and no college credits to show for it. FML

go to a different school asap. it's obvious accreditation means something to you or you wouldn't have mentioned it. Don't pay 20k a year for something that's not going to earn it back for you.

You didn't find this out before you started college.

Just another reason why America is ******. In Australia anyone with a brain has the opportunity to attend University, and my entire degree only cost $20K at an excellent school. The government will even pay for it, and you only start paying it back if you earn enough money each year.

Yep, in Australia, they actively encourage you to go to uni, especially as a mature-age student. Don't have the entry-level requirement - they'll accept industry experience and start you at a lower level and yo can work your way up. Working full time - no problem, you can do it part time. Can't attend campus - you can do a distance education course. Can't afford it - they'll pay your tuition (which is nothing really), and your repayments are deducted as you start to earn over a certain amount. All this from the top universities in the country.

I'd be pissed and would ask fir my money back

If you can prove you were lied to you may be able to get some or all back. Not an easy option though.

Op, check around. Some accreditted schools will accept your coursework anyway. I knew a guy that got stuck in the same situation, but was still able to get a master's from Miss. State anyway because they just accepted the fact he had a bachelor's degree!

Sounds like it's time to band together with a few other students and file a class action lawsuit against the "college" so you can get your costs back.
