Today, I heard on the news that the average debt one is in when they graduate college is $24,000. I've been in college for one year and my debt is already $20,000. And it turns out that my school's accreditation does not exist like I was told. $20,000 in debt and no college credits to show for it. FML

should have researched the college first

go to a different school asap. it's obvious accreditation means something to you or you wouldn't have mentioned it. Don't pay 20k a year for something that's not going to earn it back for you.

Stop whining. I graduated college with over $100,000 in debt and I still want to go to law school. Granted, my school was accredited because I actually did some research before I picked a school, but hey I'm sure you were busy that day. Welcome to the club sweetheart.

ydi for not doing your own research before such a huge investment and also for thinking you need to spend 80k on an undergrad degree.

The OP, like thousands of others, got suckered by a degree mill. These places charge high rates, take federal money, and get people a degree that isn't worth the paper it's written on. Many have an active policy against hiring their own students because they know they're peddling garbage. If the school falsely advertised its accreditation (and you have the documents to prove it) try contacting the state attorney general's office to see what options you have. Other than that, see if any legit schools will accept transfer credit and try to transfer there.

YDI because only a completely naive, underachieving idiot would fall for a scam like that. People like you are the reason this country is suffering. Why didn't you just work hard in high school, do your research, and go to a normal and more affordable school? A local state school surely would have sufficed.

you read that in the redeye today... you're a moron for choosing a school, paying that much, and not researching the accreditation better.

lemme guess, itt? been there, done that, wasted the money.

check this out but i heard the rule of thumb is to not have more debt at the end of your 4 yrs of college than you will make your first year at your job. so say ur 80 grand in student loans at the end of ur four yrs then u need to find a job where make 80 grand and over time pay it off... dont get a useless degree go after a degree that will pay out or forget it.....

For those who say "YDI for going to a TV college," nowhere in the post did the OP mention they were going to a TV school. Some big universities just outright lie to their students.
