insurance?? gap?? fail!
Seriously, you're a ******* idiot. Please, if possible, just think before you post. Or, if you're going to make shit up, cone up with something better. Your lack of creativity is painful.
I really don't understand why regular schmos buy brand-new cars. If you've got money falling out of your ass, OK, but otherise it seems like such a waste. Anyone care to enlighten me with a justification, aside from getting "the latest" model, bells & whistles, etc.?
It's just me, but I like to have new things. Stuff that didn't belong to anyone before I get it. It's nice to be the first owner sometimes !
Ah. I suspected as much.
Hm, somehow I missed 76 before that last reply. 76: Not trying to pick on you here, but is it really *that* nice? I mean, you're paying sometimes thousands of dollars more for it, only to lose the same amount in value on your drive home from the lot. It's a double loss.
I don't mind, this is what's interesting in a discussion: confronting different points of view. When you have the money, why not buy something that's new ? (but yes, if you're broke, it may be a stupid idea) And don't forget this simple fact -> to be able to buy a used product, someone must have bought it fresh out of the manufactory, in the first place ! Actually, my current car (which is also the first car I own) was already about seven years old when I bought it. So I never had a new car, but that's ok (maybe in a few years). And it still was a good bargain ! Never had any complains. By the way, I'm not speaking only about cars, it works for any product. What about your clothes, phone, music player, TV, books, CDs, ... and so on ? Isn't it nice to get those items brand new ? (even if you can buy used ones, of course)
IJD, I buy brand new cars for the warranty. I put on a lot of kilometers, and the money I have saved having warranty that lasts longer than the payments has been more than worth it. Besides, 15k for a new car, or 8k for a 3 year old one with little or no warranty isn't that big of a difference in monthly payments.
If you financed a car, almost all banks require you have full coverage insurance. I bought my car 4 years old, financed it and still had to pay full coverage. Idk what insurance company you have but state farm usually pays you what its worth if it's totalled when you have full coverage. But if you didn't have insurance, then you're the dumbass who can only be made at yourself for taking that risk.
the laws in Canada are different. Although you must legally have insurance full coverage is not required.
If your willing to let your credit take a hit, get a USED car and stop paying on the new car you totaled. The bank will repo your totaled car, and your credit score won't be good for a while, but you'll have wheels. I wouldn't be paying if my car was totaled.
Unless you paid cash and own the car outright you had to have insurance to take the car off the lot. File an insurance claim. insurance should be able to get you rolling again.
that's why they have Gap Insurance.

Ummm insurance?
Yeah, insurance should cover it, they should give you money for another car in the amount of what your car was worth before the accident. And if you don't have insurance, YDI.
