Today, I learned that binding my stomach with duct tape isn't worth it to look thin. I also learned the even worse part when I shrieked more loudly than I should've when I tried to discreetly rip it off in history class. FML

OP here! As one kid remarked, "That's a LOT of tape" and "But you're skinny!" If only he knew the whole thing. Yes, it was stupid, but when I took it off, I noticed that my fat was contained, and I looked thinner all day. Of course, no one deserves the pain of having it on or, even worse, removing it. (Those back hairs!) And let's not mention those blistering red marks. Still, it was worth the price. And no, I'm not fat or even chubby. I'm rather active--some would say hyper--and don't even eat that much in the first place. My weight and height are perfectly proportionate; I'm an average size. But since I'm not stick-skinny like my sisters, my family pesters me to lose weight. Besides, thinner girls at my school get more guys. I'd been sucking in for days, but I needed something to keep it that way. I sucked in when applying the duct tape, and since the fat couldn't get through its tight told, it looked as if my stomach were perfectly thin and flat. Sadly, some kids noticed and wondered why the heck my tummy was taped. I decided it wasn't worth the pain and I peeled it all off, awful pain and red marks included. I wish I could've cut it off; it would've been easier that way. After about halfway I excused myself to the bathroom to strip off the rest (the more painful parts) in a stall's confinement.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Why would you use duct tape of all things if you wanted to bind your stomach? Sure it should've occurred to you to use Saran Wrap or something. Or just not bind it in the first place.

Why not actually work out to lose weight instead of doing something stupid

Why not go to the bathroom to take it off? o.O

Yeah, way to perpetuate a stereotype, OP.

Stereotypes aren't all that offensive, unless you there's a bit of truth in 'em. Even then, meh, life is easier if you don't take this sort of thing too seriously :-)

I'm just saying that now OP has given stupid people fodder to justify their prejudices.

I've lost all faith in humanity...

Healthy diet and exercise are a long way from anorexia. The fact you felt you had to point out the difference illustrates how ****** up today's perception of things is.

Seriously? What the hell did you think was going to happen? Go buy some spanx if you're THAT worried about looking thin. OR go on a diet and start exercising, that way you can actually BE thin. Seriously, you can only hide it in so many ways and none of them are comfortable. I would also imagine its a pain to explain to anyone who may see you change or if you happen to hook up with anyone. Other than special occasions, there's no need for any of that stuff.

That's actually a pretty good idea! At least it's better than what OP used lol

No. Because I already explained why in two previous comments. It's a bad idea to plant in her head.

Not only is duck tape/duct tape (hereafter referred to as "du** tape") very, VERY dangerous to use in this way (it shrinks slightly when it gets warm, and the effect is even more pronounced when it's in layers), but you were also doing it wrong. If you are going to use du** tape as a binder, and you should NEVER do so, you need to put a liner under it, made of fabric or thin plastic. Again, though, DON'T USE DU** TAPE IN THE FIRST PLACE! YDI when it comes to ripping the tape off (especially during class), but I'm glad you didn't break any ribs or get hurt from getting stuck in it.

It's called a gym membership.

Maybe the OP isn't able to afford one, or is insecure and wants to look thin as soon as possible, not wanting to weight for results? Anyways, once again, kinda bothers me that people are focusing more on how to get OP to be thin than getting OP to be comfortable in their own skin.

OP probably has confidence issues, and sounds like they are probably a teen(AKA has bad hormones), it's not likely they were thinking in the clearest head. Doesn't make them an idiot.
