Today, I left my grandmother's burial to take a midterm. Earlier I e-mailed the professor to ask permission to take it later, and she flat out said "no." I left my grieving family, and traveled hours back to school. I went to class, only to discover that the prof decided to move the exam date. FML

Plus her grandma would want whats best for her grand daughter, and that does not include flunking...

Oh my god, that's ******* terrible. Your teacher should be beaten to death with a bag of dicks.

With a father who teaches at the college level and deals with this all the time, I think it's worth understanding what an unnecessary pain in the ass it is to set up another test date. Beyond all the extra crap you have to go through, you have to spend hours of your time supervising that student- and that's if they even show up. So many students are flaky about it, it's really not worth the teacher's time. Sorry if that hurts your precious feelings, but it's true.

As someone already pointed out, OP wasn't asking the professor to change the date for *everyone*. She just wanted to know if *she* could take the test on another day. OP: FYL.

And that would be fine except the date -was- changed in the end without sufficient notice. This negates your argument, Paradox621.

#30, you're contradicting yourself. yeah, fine, it's a pain to move test dates for each student's unique circumstances, but he's just gonna have to go through all that again for moving the test date. duh. and isn't it even more of a pain if the parents file a complaint about the teacher? you're dad could get screwed over. seriously. lol. how did a professor end up with a son like you?

I think it's really rude you had to say "Precious" feelings, obviously making fun of the person. It's different if a student just wants to set up a diff date cus they slept late than when a family member dies and they want to attend the service. Besides, anytime I've ever had to take a test, I just went to the prof's office hours, and sat out in the hall. They went about their office hours in a normal fashion. Maybe you're not spending enough time in your office, being available for your students.

Yes, it is difficult. But for someones DEAD GRANDMOTHER it's a completely reasonable thing to do.

I am so sorry. :/ This sucks so much not to be able to go to your grandma's funeral... I hope you could make it back to be there for a part of the funeral. I hate your teacher for doing this. You teacher deserves to die and to have no one at their funeral. Again, I am extremely sorry.

It says the OP left grandmother's burial, which would be AFTER the memorial service!!

Hey #16! Wanna know what you and the professor have in common? You're both *****.

#33: excellent. I'm really sorry about your Grandmother and your asshole professor. The professor will get what she deserves.

your teacher is a ****. fyl :( I'm really sorry.

#9, he/she wasn't asking for the exam date to be changed for everyone, just that he/she could sit it later on and NOT on the day of his grandmother's burial. i'm sure you would ask for the same, in that position. ever heard of sympathy??

Your professor is a inconsiderate ****. Sorry for your loss.
