Today, I left my grandmother's burial to take a midterm. Earlier I e-mailed the professor to ask permission to take it later, and she flat out said "no." I left my grieving family, and traveled hours back to school. I went to class, only to discover that the prof decided to move the exam date. FML

I would **** that professor up, for REAL.

Wow dude, that is horrible. My condolences, but you should seriously report that professor or something, I mean that's not just insensitive, it's abuse.

wAit a sec, am i the only one who doesn't see this??? MIDTERMS!!!! IT"S THE SUMMER! (well, kinda except for the people with more finals/ regents/ tests) Why are you taking midterms in the summer? They go in between the school year, or in between semesters. I'm calling BS. Actually, i'm calling that the OP tried to see how many people would notice or if it would get through, which is very respectable (i'm serious I've been trying to do that for as long as i've been on FML)

Obviously it didn't occur to you that the OP could be taking SUMMER courses. Many people take them at all levels of schooling to get credits out of the way.

You are such an idiot. People take summer courses too.

um, the OP could have meant finals. Finals week for us just ended Friday.

Midterms for summer semester university courses could be around this time. Try not being ignorant and quick to assume.

I guess the prof may have mentionned the date change in class, and didn't necessarily know you lived away? It sucks A LOT for you, but many profs do that where they mention something important in class and assume that students are supposed to be in class, if they aren't it's negligence on their part. I know it sucks, but maybe the prof didn't want to give you a make-up exam (too complicated) and decided to simply move the date. She didn't want to get a reputation for being soft, so she didn't explicitly tell you that? Figured someone you knew in class would let you know?

I would have just missed the test and told the professor to go **** themselves...It was just a midterm anyways. You would just get a 0 and have to work harder for the final exam to pass the class.

I think some people are missing why the teacher is an asshole. While I think the flat out No was rude I get the teacher saying no, I've seen it happen but the teachers were nicer about it. Anyway why the teacher is an asshole is for moving the test without telling the OP.

Your prof is probably breaking policy by doing that, you should have reported them.

I clicked both, because.. It does suck, BUT, and I don't care who says what about this, but you could have lodged a complaint with the Dean and gotten that overturned, to take the test at a later date. So.. You weren't very proactive in your own education. Not to be a b*tch or anything, just the way I view the situation.
